Current openings

  • Before and After Care Assistant

    Acorn has a delightful, child-centered after-school program that runs from 3:00PM - 6:00PM daily.  When classes end at either 2:45PM or 3:00PM, depending on the program level, children can participate in our After Care program while waiting to  be picked up, anytime before 6:00PM. We are currently looking for someone to assist the After Care lead faculty with duties such as:


    • preparing daily crafts
    • setting up snack
    • reading stories
    • helping to supervise on the playground
    • other fun after-school activities

    Hours for this position are 2:00PM - 6:00PM daily. There is a potential for additional earlier hours of employment assisting in our Montessori classroom when a faculty member is absent. There are also employment opportunities during our extended days program when the school is closed but student programming is still offered.   • Substitute Classroom Assistant

    In a Montessori school, there aren’t traditional substitutes, as teachers must be trained in the Montessori philosophy to teach lessons and guide learning but we do bring in day assistants  to support the remaining teacher in the room when her co-worker must be absent. Duties include preparing and restoring the classroom environment, assisting children with practical life duties such as getting coats and shoes on and off, supervising children, and any other supports the trained faculty need.  


    Hours are generally 8:00AM – 3:00PM for these roles. Occasionally we need half-day subs, and/or substitutes in the after-care program. To inquire, please contact the Head of School, at 908-730-8986 or via email: michelle.morrison@acornschool.org.

  • 6-12 Trained and Experienced Montessori Lead Teacher

    We are looking for a trained Montessori teacher to join our joyful community of elementary learners and faculty as we expand beyond the 6-9 level and offer 9-12. This is a full-time, on-site position for an Elementary Montessori Teacher (6–12) at Acorn Montessori School in Lebanon, NJ. 


    The Elementary Montessori Teacher will co-lead a mixed-age community of 6-12 year old elementary students using authentic Montessori principles and practices.

     Key responsibilities include:


    • Designing and implementing Montessori-aligned lessons and work plans for children ages 6–12.
    • Maintaining a prepared classroom environment that promotes independence, concentration, and collaboration.
    • Observing students regularly and using those observations to inform instruction and individual guidance.
    • Supporting students’ social and emotional development and fostering a respectful, inclusive classroom culture.
    • Communicating regularly and thoughtfully with parents/guardians about student progress and classroom life.
    • Collaborating with colleagues to ensure continuity and alignment across program levels and the school community.
