Toddler - 18 months to 3 years

Dr. Montessori believed the first three years of life are crucial to human development and she emphasized the importance of creating a natural environment that fosters independence, trust and individual achievement,

Children learn through play, through experimentation with things in the world around them. This play is the child's work.
The visitor to Acorn Montessori School's Toddler House will be struck by the sense of order and calm that prevails. The toddler environment and the program itself have been uniquely designed as an extension of the home, to fulfill the toddlers basic need of unconditional love, human touch, order, protection, sensory communication and respect. The Toddler House was transformed from a residence to a charming home for toddlers in 1994. The space is beautifully designed to appeal to the child's own curiosity including an attractive parlor where teachers can greet visitors without disturbing the children, an area for large-motor development and a spacious outdoor backyard of their own. The napping area features special toddler-size oak beds and matching dressers where the children keep their own clothing, family photos and fresh flowers.

Parents choose from morning, afternoon, or full-day programs in the Toddler house, five days a week. Also available is a 12-month program with hours starting from 7:30 a.m. and lasting until 6 p.m.
