It was so important that we find a place that would care for him the way that we would...

"We enrolled our son in the Toddler full day program at Acorn when he was 18 months old. It was so important that we find a place that would care for him the way that we would. When we visited the school, we saw a true-to-life classroom with child sized everything, from a working kitchen area, to the napping room (night stands and all). Not to mention the 'outdoor classroom' where the children have room to run and safe/age appropriate equipment. The campus is beautiful with animals, gardens and everything that we wanted him to be surrounded with. We were not familiar with the Montessori philosophy, but quickly learned that it involved embracing each child strengths, interests and natural curiosity to foster learning. This has been an excellent approach and our son has flourished at Acorn. We are now the proud parents of an intelligent, happy, loving and respectful little boy! Thanks Acorn!"

I think the Montessori approach in general provides tremendous benefits in many areas...

"We have two daughters that have been at the school for the last 4 years. They'll both be returning in the fall as first and third graders. I can't say enough about what the school has done for them, particularly my older daughter. She was a late talker, which impacted her social skills and self esteem. We have seen such a dramatic change in her since she's been at Acorn. Her confidence level is through the roof. The Montessori approach is great in that the students learn from each other and take on a mentoring role when they are the senior members of their class. The academic program at Acorn is also very strong. Both of my daughters were reading and writing after attending Kindergarten and have developed very strong math skills for their ages. I can't speak to the other Montessori schools in the area, although we did look at all three before picking Acorn. I think the Montessori approach in general provides tremendous benefits in many areas, so it's definitely something parents should consider when looking at preschools."

The Montessori classroom focuses on self-initiated learning and is set up so each child can excel at his or her own pace.

"We have been at Acorn for the past 4 years and we absolutely love it! The Montessori classroom focuses on self-initiated learning and is set up so each child can excel at his or her own pace. My son is starting kindergarten next year and he is already reading. They also really learn how to be kind and respectful of one another too! The school starts out at 6 months and goes all the way up to 6th grade. My kids started out at 18 months in the Toddler house. Once I saw the little toddler beds and night tables for them to nap at, I knew this was the place for my kids. Before and after care is also available, the school is open from 7:30 am to 6 pm, which was important for us as a dual-working-parent family."

The teachers were amazing; the depth of their commitment and their patience were so apparent.

"We have been at Acorn for a year; our son started in the Toddler House when he was just shy of 2 years old. When I walked onto the campus, I felt that this was the place I would have wished to go to school ... and the Toddler House made him immediately feel at home. The teachers were amazing; the depth of their commitment and their patience were so apparent. I felt listened to and respected, and knew that they would do the same for my son. I've since met other children who have grown up at Acorn, and have been impressed with their maturity, thoughtfulness, creativity, and sensitivity to the world. We both work outside the home, so it was important to me that my son feel at home at his school. Acorn teachers and students have become like a second family."

I really appreciate the school's emphasis on respect for others, from all walks of life.

"My children have attended Acorn for 1 1/2 years. The school has provided a nurturing environment with academic challenges that meet the needs of both of my, two very different, children. The Montessori materials fascinate and educate my children. The teachers are first rate. They have learned to work with my children's individual personalities and interests. I can tell that the teachers genuinely care. The school offers wonderful after school activities and really terrific field trips (performing arts, art, music, dance, environment, sciences). I really appreciate the school's emphasis on respect for others, from all walks of life. Acorn encourages parental involvement and offers many different ways to contribute. Finally, an unexpected benefit, through our activities at this school our family feels part of a community."

The teachers are so experienced and all of them are certified, not just as day care providers but teachers.

"Our 2 and 1/2 year old daughter simply LOVES her new school. The teachers are so experienced and all of them are certified, not just as day care providers but teachers. It is not just a childcare center, but a great school. My daughter has already learned her letter sounds and counting. They have a music director that comes to class ... they even get to cook their own snack!"
