"Our care of the child should be governed, not by the desire to make him learn things, but by the endeavor always to keep burning within him that light which is called intelligence."
- Maria Montessori

Welcome to Acorn Montessori School!

“The creation of a thousand forests is in one acorn.” Since I read those words of Ralph Waldo Emerson, I realized how perfect the acorn imagery is for Acorn Montessori School.

The idea that one acorn can transform a landscape, can produce the roots, trunks, branches and leaves of oak trees, can influence our planet, as well, into the future is astonishing. Every day, at Acorn, the unique potential of each child is revealed. ”Whether a child enters Acorn as a Toddler (18 months to 3 years), a Primary student (ages 3 through Kindergarten), or Lower Elementary (1st grade through 3rd), a most extraordinary education begins. In fact, it is the education all parents seek for their children. If you want your child to be in small classes with trained teachers, to focus on literacy, math, science, nature, and a global education and to be in an environment that has a curriculum dedicated to respect, courtesy, and caring for others, you have found a match. Most importantly, at Acorn Montessori, we believe in the individuality we all possess, so the children never encounter a one-size-fits-all approach.

Choosing a school is an important decision. “One must come out of one’s house to begin learning.” This West African proverb seems to define the Acorn experience. As parents, you understand that your children need to step out and beyond the walls of your homes and begin to experience the world. What a wonderful environment in which to learn. I do believe that Maria Montessori would highly approve of Acorn for children as an early step out of their houses. Dr. Montessori said, “The child should live in an environment of beauty.” No one can deny the beauty of the grounds and the program at Acorn.

I invite you to come learn about Acorn. Visit our campus and see, in person, the children in the classroom and outside in our extraordinary surroundings. You will then see how and why our students thrive at Acorn, why our parents become partners with Acorn on behalf of their children, and why our experienced and trained teachers are dedicated to the Acorn mission.

“The children are all learning and growing so much and I feel so lucky to have my child here.”
Acorn parent, 2011-2012 school year.

Very truly yours,

Pamela R. Bloom
